Joshua Tree is one of my favorite places in the world, and I was so happy to go on a wilderness camping trip there this past March. Blame it on being a SoCal baby, but I feel I have a special affinity towards the desert and all things cacti. This was my second trip here, but the experience was no less magical. From the breathtaking landscapes, to outdoor adventures and rock climbing, I'm super excited to share all my adventures from this trip with you these next few weeks!

Other than the Joshua Trees from which the park is named after, another iconic part of the beautiful scenery here are the granite rock formations. These formations were created millions of years ago from volcanic magma, and have since been shaped by natural erosion, ground water, and flash floods. The result is a beautifully rugged landscape of varied textures and shapes. A trip to Joshua Tree definitely wouldn't be complete without climbing up these rocks.

One of my fondest memories from my trip to Joshua Tree last year was wandering off of the hiking trails and climbing up these rocky mountains. When Jack and I had finally reached the top of the rocks and looked down, the view was jaw-dropping stunning. I knew that if we were to come again, that I would want to do a shoot from up on the rocks. Sure enough, we came again and the views did not disappoint.

There's something to be said about mixing delicate and strong pieces that help accentuate each other, while adding an element of surprise. I wore a breezy maxi dress from StyleMoi, and contrasted the femininity of the dress with what I call Boho-Gladiator sandals from Isabel Marant. The lightness of the black chiffon plays off of the weight of the sandals and brings a nice balance to the outfit. As usual, I kept my jewelry minimal, wearing bold, cuff bracelets by Madewell. I'm all for mixing pieces, whether that be colors, styles, or even seasonal pieces. Personal style is all about having fun with your outfits, and the combinations are truly endless. How do you mix pieces? I'd love to know!

Have you ever been to Joshua Tree? If so, what was your favorite thing to do there?
